TERMS & CONDITIONS

Effective Date: January 1, 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern all programs, services, events, and offerings provided by Onward Literary Mentoring LLC, dba “Onward Literary” (“Onward,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), including but not limited to:

  • The Onward Writers’ Studio

  • Creative Writing for Lawyers (CWFL)

  • All classes, seminars, workshops, intensives, and retreats

  • Mentorship programs, coaching, group programs, and private services

  • Any future educational, creative, or professional offerings

  • Any CLE (“Continuing Legal Education”) Videos

By enrolling in, purchasing, or participating in any Onward Literary program (“Program”), you agree to these Terms.

1. NATURE OF PROGRAMS

All Onward Literary Programs are educational and creative in nature. Participation does not constitute legal advice, medical advice, mental health services, publishing representation, or literary agency services.

2. NO GUARANTEES

Onward Literary makes no guarantees regarding publication, representation by literary agents, career outcomes, or completion of any manuscript or creative project. All results depend on the participant’s individual effort, engagement, and circumstances.

3. PAYMENT & ENROLLMENT

All fees are disclosed at the time of enrollment. Payment is due in full unless a payment plan is expressly offered in writing. Enrollment is confirmed only upon successful payment.

Onward Literary reserves the right to deny or revoke participation at its discretion.

4. CANCELLATION, REFUNDS & TRANSFERS

Refund, cancellation, and transfer policies vary by Program and are disclosed at the time of enrollment.

Unless otherwise stated in writing:

  • All sales are final

  • Missed sessions do not entitle participants to refunds

Retreats and in-person events are typically non-refundable due to venue, vendor, and logistical commitments.

5. PROGRAM MODIFICATIONS

Onward Literary reserves the right to modify Program content, schedules, instructors, venues, or format, and to cancel or reschedule sessions due to unforeseen circumstances. Such changes do not entitle participants to refunds.

6. CODE OF CONDUCT

Participants agree to engage respectfully with instructors, mentors, staff, and fellow participants, and to maintain the confidentiality of shared work and discussions.

Harassment, discrimination, disruption, or boundary violations may result in removal from a Program without refund.

7. CONFIDENTIALITY

Participants agree not to share, distribute, or disclose:

  • Other participants’ creative work

  • Private discussions or feedback

  • Recordings or materials from Programs

These confidentiality obligations survive termination of participation.

8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Participants retain full ownership of their own creative work.

Onward Literary retains ownership of all Program curricula, materials, recordings, branding, trademarks, and program structure. Program materials may not be reproduced, distributed, or shared without prior written permission.

9. RECORDINGS

Programs may be recorded for educational, administrative, or internal use. By participating, you consent to such recordings unless otherwise stated in writing.

10. LIMITATION OF SERVICES

Unless explicitly contracted, Programs do not include individualized editorial services, therapy, counseling, legal advice, medical advice, or financial advice.

Participants experiencing mental health or medical concerns should seek appropriate professional support.

11. ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Participation in creative and group-based Programs may involve emotional, interpersonal, or creative challenges. Participants voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation.

12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Onward Literary shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the participant for the applicable Program.

13. INDEMNIFICATION

Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless Onward Literary, its owners, instructors, mentors, contractors, and affiliates from any claims arising out of participation in any Program.

14. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

15. MODIFICATIONS

Onward Literary may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
